Frequently asked questions
To some extent, yes. We collaborate with licensed European Patent Attorneys to assess whether the renewal fee payment is legally required, accurate, and complete. Payments are not processed without review. If we identify that the payment is unnecessary, incomplete, requires adjustments to office fees, or has additional requirements, we will notify you.
However, our services do not include legal advice. For full assurance, we recommend consulting your patent attorney to confirm the payment's necessity, accuracy, and compliance.
If we find that the payment is not required, incomplete, needs office fee adjustments, or needs additional requirements, we will inform you.
If the payment is not required, we will not process the payment and refund the full amount minus a 10% processing fee. If the payment is incomplete, we will inform you of the missing information and provide you with the opportunity to complete the payment.
No. Hiring us for paying your renewal fees does not mean that we will become your representative. Your current representative will remain the same.
We will only be responsible for paying the renewal fees on your behalf.
No. We do not charge any additional fees for currency conversion or payment processing. All fees are included in the total amount you see.
We typically require a minimum of 5 business days to process your payment. If you are running late, please contact us immediately. Keep in mind that some patent offices may take longer to process payments, so we strongly recommend submitting your payment as early as possible. Please note that we cannot guarantee the processing times of patent offices.
For urgent cases, we are happy to assist—just reach out to us right away.
All patent offices have a grace period for late payments. However, late payments are subject to additional fees. There will also be a service surcharge for late payments, which will be added to the total amount.
The patent office responsible for receiving renewal fees can change during the lifetime of a patent. While we rely on official sources for our data, there is a chance that the information we provide may be outdated. We recommend verifying with your attorney to ensure that the patent office we identified is correct.
Yes, they are the same. The terms "renewal fee," "maintenance fee," and "annuity" are used interchangeably to describe the periodic payments required to keep a patent in force.
By default, we will remind you about the renewal fee for the next year. If you wish to opt-out of this service, you can do so in your dashboard or by contacting us.
Yes. You can track your payments in your dashboard. We will also send you a confirmation email once your payment has been processed.
You can expect the following updates:
- Payment received (Email from us + dashboard)
- Payment sent to the patent office (Email from us + dashboard)
- Payment confirmation from the patent office if available. (Email from us + dashboard)
That strongly depends on the patent office and the register you are looking at. While some patent offices update their records within a few business days, some patent offices take up to 60 days to update their records. (e.g., Italy). Please note that we cannot guarantee the processing times of patent offices. If you have any concerns, please reach out to us.
